There is nothing worse than showing up to a party and seeing someone wearing the exact same thing as you. Well, maybe there are worse things but you know what I mean. So now imagine showing up to a wedding and seeing the bridesmaids in the exact same dresses you picked for your bridal party. Borrrrring! It seems like the options for bridesmaids dresses are few and far between at bridal shops these days. They’re usually pretty tacky and too matchy-matchy for my taste. Plus, you don’t want your big day to be a dime a dozen with cliche bridesmaids dresses. When I was in high school, I remember going to BCBG with my mom and finding lots of dresses I loved. From that moment, I solemnly swore to myself (and my mom) that I wouldn’t buy my bridesmaid dresses at a bridal shop. I would simply shop at places I already loved shopping at and find the dresses there. Today I will share all of the places you can pick up unexpected bridesmaid dresses that your squad will actually love.
This has been one of my favorite online shops for years and years now. They have dresses from all different designers so you’re bound to find a few you love. They even came out with an exclusive line of bridesmaid dresses that are ultra cute! They align with the style of their brand but come in different styles and colors so that you can create your own mismatched bridal party. Whether or not you’re shopping from their bridesmaid collection, your bridal party is going to love the dresses you end up choosing. You can buy multiples of the same dress or mix and match to create your perfect aesthetic. Side note: ASOS is also the perfect place to look for a dress if you’re a wedding guest.
You already know how much I shop at Missguided for everyday clothes. I feature their pieces on the blog and my Instagram all the time. No matter what kind of wedding you’re having, you can find something here for your bridesmaids! Missguided has everything from sundresses to formal gowns. Even their formal pieces are super affordable! Most of their dresses are under $200 and they have stellar sales on the site often so your bridesmaids have the chance to score a deal.
This is the perfect option if your wedding is really mod. Their signature styles are usually very trendy and fun! Lots of cut outs and asymmetrical hemlines will add a fun twist to your wedding photos. Since so many of their dresses have statement features, I would probably limit the mix and match to 3 dresses. Any more than that will look too uncoordinated and random. They also just released a bridesmaid collection here! It’s full of floral prints and ethereal fabrics that would flatter anyone. I personally love their silk options in the collection! So glam.
Perfect for the eco-friendly bride! The Reformation focuses on creating pieces using sustainable methods and materials. Even if responsible manufacturing isn’t your main priority, the styles are everything. The dresses are super flowy and glamorous without being too flashy. The dresses come in a variety of colors and styles that would mix perfectly together. The prices are a bit higher but the quality is super evident! The Reformation has dresses that are appropriate for a black tie affair or a quiet ceremony on the beach. Definitely don’t skip this one!
This is a great place to shop online for everything, but especially dresses! I even bought one of my high school homecoming dresses on here for less than $50. *insert dancing emoji girl here* The inventory seems never ending and the styles get cuter and cuter as you scroll. Plus, it’s super easy to shop for bridesmaid dresses here because they have a category completely dedicated to dresses they thing would be perfect for a bridal party. I also love that a lot of their styles come in a ton of different colors, so you can definitely find one to match your style.
Even if you choose the cutest dresses in the world, chances are your bridal party probably won’t wear them again. Since this will more than likely be a one-and-done dress, renting is a great option! If you’re not familiar with the site, Rent the Runway is a place for you to rent designer clothing (mostly formal dresses) and ship it back. I love how user friendly it is because it shows photos of other people who have rented that dress and gives all the details you need. I.e., what size they normally wear, what size they rented, etc, height, weight, etc. Also, they always send you two sizes that ensure the perfect fit. This can be a bit tricky because you’ll need to choose a dress that has multiples available on your wedding date but it can definitely be done!
