I’ve always wanted to do a post on my favorite beauty products of all time but it’s taken me a little while because it was so hard to narrow down! I was originally planning on doing my Top 5 but that was downright impossible. So in honor of my former MySpace persona (can’t believe I just used those words), I decided a Top 8 would be perfect! When I was trying to whittle down my collection, I wanted to focus on products that I’ve been testing for a while and that completely made me stop using anything else similar. In other words, when I found these products, my search was over for that category. Here they are: my top 8 beauty products!
- Ardell Demi Wispies – These are my favorite lashes of all time because they’re so easy to glam up but they’re also appropriate for daily wear. They’re ridiculously inexpensive (under $5 for 5 pairs) and they’re able to be reused up to 3-4 times. I have used these for years now and I have them down to a science – I know exactly how much to trim off each lash and apply the glue precisely to the thin band. I make sure to always have these in my makeup bag, no matter what. Running out of these is worse than running out of toothpaste. Just kidding, but not really. If you haven’t tried these lashes yet, do yourself a favor and get some. And if you need help applying your lashes, check out my How to Master False Lashes!
- T3 Whirl Trio – I recently got this as a Christmas gift (best gift ever – thank you, Mom and Dad) and I can already tell I am in love with it. I wanted to wait a bit longer before reviewing it for you guys but I just couldn’t wait. The barrels are interchangeable so you can achieve a million different looks with one iron (so perfect for travel). It heats up in literally under a minute – it amazes me every single time. And this is the best part – every time I have curled my hair using this, no matter what size barrel I used, the curls lasted for days. Like, 3 days with no touch ups. I don’t know how this wand does it but o-m-g. If you have any interest in styling your hair in curls or waves – this is the only tool you’ll ever need.
- Anastasia Clear Brow Gel and Precisely My Brow Pencil – I had to include these two products together because they’re the dream team. Everyone in the beauty community is obsessed with the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil but I didn’t love that one. The formula was amazing but I couldn’t get used to the teardrop shape of the pencil. After a few tries, I switched over to the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil and I am a total convert ever since. The color selection is great (they have a lot more cool tones than other brands I have tried) and the formula lasts all day. I love the fine tip because it mimics the look of an actual hair, which is perfect for filling in sparse areas. To make sure your brow that you’ve worked so hard to fill in stays in place, you need the best brow gel on the market. The Anastasia Clear Brow Gel is like a super glue hairspray for your brows. Trust me, my long brow hairs can be quite unruly so I need a firm hold. This brow gel is the ultimate!
- Kerastase Chroma Riche Masque – I got a sample of this mask a few years ago and it made such a difference in my hair after just one use that I knew I needed it in my life. I’ve had this for a while now and it never fails me – whenever my hair is feeling a little dull and brittle, this does the trick! My color-treated hair becomes soft, shiny, supple, and radiant. One jar of this is quite expensive in comparison to other masks but it is in a league of its own.
- WetBrush – The first time I used one of these, I was at the hairdresser and I noticed as soon as it touched my locks. It used to take me at least 10-15 minutes to brush out my hair after I took a shower. First of all, ouch. Second of all, that amount of brushing and detangling undoubtedly caused damage to my hair. When my hairdresser brushed through my hair in one single pass, I was sold. I initially thought it was some kind of miracle conditioning treatment but then she told me it was the brush. The bristles are made from an ultra-flexible silicone to allow it to glide through your hair without getting caught on each knot. These bristles also make this brush perfect for hair extensions. No matter what hair type you have, you will love this brush. It changes the game!
- Glam Glow Daily Cleanser, Hydrating Treatment, and Brightening Treatment – I have featured two of these in my Top 5 Face Masks post but I couldn’t make this list without including these. As far as face masks go, Glam Glow takes the cake in every single category. These two are perfectly suited for my skin type (dry with dull patches) but they have many more masks that are amazing for different skin issues. This face wash is so unique because it goes from mud to foam as you use it. You apply it to dry skin and work the mud into your skin and add water to lather up to a cleansing foam. It is great at removing makeup, dirt, and oils but leaves your skin feeling hydrated and smooth. I love using this cleanser every day and adding in these masks as needed.
- Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick – The main thing I love about this liquid lipstick formula is the way it feels on the lips. I do have liquid lipsticks that last longer but those also feel crumbly and dry after a few hours. The Kat Von D formula is totally comfortable and still has great staying power. Even when it begins to wear off (after hours and hours or eating/drinking a lot), it doesn’t leave you with the dreaded ring around your mouth. It wears off evenly and allows you to touch up easily. I end up wearing one of her shades almost daily and I am still not tired of these.
- Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse – I can’t believe I have gone this long without talking about this product on the blog. This may be my favorite beauty find of all time. Seriously! Every single person that I have made try this product is OBSESSED and buys some for themselves. This magical self-tanner is made by an Australian company which I am assuming uses some fairy dust as a main ingredient. Basically, the undertone of this product is olive rather than orange so it leaves you with a totally natural looking tan that will not give you an Oompa Loompa look no matter what. I have applied layers and layers of this and it never streaks or turns a funny color. The mousse formula makes it easy to blend and quick to dry. It doesn’t smell bad (side note: why do other self-tanners make you smell like a fire hydrant in a dog park? Not cute.) I haven’t found anything that I don’t love about this product. If you try one thing from this list, make it this!
