I am actually embarrassed to say how many engagement rings I’ve tried on in my lifetime. It has to be upwards of 300 rings that have found their way onto my ring finger! I’ve looked at 1,000’s and knew exactly what I wanted so it was just a matter of creating it when the time came. The obsession with diamonds began when I was a little girl – I would ask my mom, aunts, and pretty much anyone that would listen to try their engagement ring on. Now that I’m in my twenties, it’s a much more appropriate hobby. Having something that glistened in the sun on my finger just felt right, what can I say? It was always something that symbolized something much deeper, obviously, but I won’t lie – the glamour factor didn’t hurt either. It wasn’t until my cousin, Taryn, got engaged when I was about 15 that I started to really consider what kind of ring I wanted, how much it would cost, etc. Side note: about 100 of those rings I mentioned that I’ve tried on are made up of me playing dress up with her diamond.
Over the years, my taste hasn’t changed very much! I’ve always had my eye on a chunky cushion cut diamond surrounded by a dainty halo and thin band. If you follow me on Pinterest, you already know that about 70% of my wedding board is made up of dream engagement rings. Through my research over the years, I have found so many rings that I was in love with so I never thought I would be able to actually narrow it down. But while I was searching, I kept being attracted to one designer’s work in particular: Leon Mege. Whenever I found a photo of a ring that was particularly swoon-worthy, I would end up being directed to his website so I knew I had to work with him when the time came! Leon Mege is a jewelry designer in New York City, located in the heart of the diamond district. He specializes in platinum jewelry but was happy to accommodate my request for white gold. Since I was super specific about what I wanted, Andrew allowed me to be part of the design process which I appreciate so much. The proposal (if you haven’t read that post yet, read it here) was still a huge shock because I had no idea when he was actually going to purchase the ring and this way, Andrew could be sure that he was giving me something I would be happy to wear every single day for the rest of my life. Even though he had seen all 300+ of the rings I’ve tried on and I am sure he would have picked a spectacular ring on his own, I was so happy to have a hand in this fun process!
Even though I spoke with Leon multiple times and went over every detail of the ring’s design, I never expected it to be this stunning. Of all the rings I have tried on over the years, this one is by far my favorite and the best part is that I get to keep it forever. The ring has a chunky antique cushion cut diamond in the center, surrounded by tiny pave diamonds on the halo and 3/4 of the band. From the moment I put it on, it felt like a total extension of my hand and I knew we had made all the right decisions. To me, it’s absolute perfection!
What is your dream engagement ring?!

What’s the carat??? It’s looks so big and I’m curious because that’s the same ring size I want!

Hi Brittany!
The center stone is 2.25 carat weight. It looks larger because of the stone’s spread. We looked for a diamond that provided good finger coverage and faced up large. Carat only refers to the weight so if the stone is a bit more shallow, it faces up larger. Hope this helps! Best of luck!
