Last weekend, our families threw me and Andrew the most beautiful engagement party. It was an absolute dream to have all the people we love under one roof to celebrate the beginning of our wedding festivities. The party was hosted at my parent’s home (quite literally my favorite place on Earth) on our porch that my parents have converted into a homey, glassed-in paradise over the years. The food was catered by Andrew’s mom, step-father, and grandfather; the catering company we used was Emilio’s BBQ and I cannot recommend them highly enough! Seriously – if you live in South Florida, contact them for your catering and rental needs. Before the engagement party, I thought I had everything about weddings figured out but it turns out I don’t! I had no idea that guests brought the couple gifts to an engagement party. I knew about bringing gifts to a bridal shower or the wedding but these gifts caught me off guard. I’m not sure if our friends and family are unusually generous (spoiler alert: they are) but we got the most stunning gifts for our engagement! Multiple guests told me that they have trouble coming up with ideas, though, so that’s where I come in! Now that I know it’s a thing, I will give you all the engagement party gift ideas I have (most of which are inspired by the beautiful ones our guests brought)!
First things first, if the couple is already registered, definitely get them something from the registry. What is better than having a whole list of things that you know the person will love? Literally nothing. Chances are, the couple won’t have their registry started yet; even if they do, they may not put the registry on the invitation since gifts are not necessarily an absolute must. The first thing people usually go for is something that is wedding or engagement themed. This is cute because it’s the only time in the couple’s life that they can receive these things but don’t go crazy! These gifts are not something the couple will get a ton of use out of so keep that in mind. Something for the home is your best bet – keep it neutral, though! A cozy throw blanket or simple picture frame with a photo of them is perfect. If you just really want to pick up a personalized gift, opt for a set of Mr. and Mrs. glasses for them to add to their collection.
