One of my favorite ways to spice up a basic look is adding a lightweight duster coat. This is so perfect for spring because it adds an extra layer without making you too warm! The silhouette gives structure to the look but doesn’t make you look too formal or professional, like some other jackets can do. When looking for dusters to add to my wardrobe, I seek out sheer materials and fun colors or patterns. The vertical stripes on this beauty give a pop but are still ultra wearable. If you don’t own a duster already, you need to seriously consider investing in one! They are perfect to wear with jeans (like I did here), cut off shorts, or even a dress. Just make sure that whatever you choose to layer under the duster is relatively form-fitting so that you’re not overwhelmed by excess fabric.
I wore this look for a day of sightseeing and exploring Chicago last weekend and it was perfection. The constant wind in Chicago made it extra chic because the duster flowed dramatically behind me all day, as if there was a fan blowing on me constantly. What more could a girl ask for?! Also, after not wearing them for a couple months, I forgot how comfortable these shoes are. I literally wore them for hours of walking in Chicago and my feet didn’t bother me at all by the end of the day. That’s saying a lot – especially coming from me because the arches on my feet are way too high so flats tend to bother me pretty quickly. The elastic around the entire band makes them comfortable from the very beginning – no need to break them in. If you’re looking for a pair of comfortable flats, these are the answer to your prayers. And if you’re worried about the price tag – I have worn these so much for over 4 years and they still look brand new so I think they’re definitely worth the investment. To transform this look from day to night, I would just swap out the shoes for a chunky heel (like these, which are also super comfortable) and call it a night!
