Casual Meets Cute

Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved everything to do with fashion but something that’s always been challenging for me was dressing casually! My friends always had my entire closet to pick from when they needed an outfit for weddings, formal dinners, or a night on the town but when it came to me getting dressed for class in college or getting ready to run errands, I was always at a total loss. To me, casual always translated to messy so I always chose to be overdressed instead. After hearing “where are you going after this?” or “why are you so dressed up?” one too many times, I decided I needed to master casual outfits once and for all.

Something that I have picked up over the years of my quest for casual-wear is that your outfit doesn’t have to be boring to be casual. Every outfit can still have a little something special about it without crossing the line into formal. In this case, I chose to keep my outfit really simple with plain dark jeans, a basic white tank, and a chambray tied around my waist. I added a unique twist by doing a large fishtail in my hair to keep the look from feeling tired and plain. It allows me to add style to the look without adding heels or a formal top.

Also, can we talk about these sunglasses for a minute? They were recently released by Quay Australia in collaboration with beauty guru, Desi Perkins. From the moment I laid eyes on them, I knew I needed them in my life. The oversized frames are a vibrant gold which outline the reflective rose gold frames – need I say more? They have been a huge hit and have been spotted on celebrities from Kylie Jenner to Chrissy Teigen to JLo – I mean, hello?! So chic. They’re sold out in most stores, with good reason, but they will be restocked soon, according to Desi Perkins herself. Quay is releasing these particular frames in a gorgeous blue shade this month. I was crossing my fingers for gunmetal gray but I am so obsessed with these frames, I will still more than likely try to get my hands on the new hue when it’s released.
