I am a firm believer that you should be looking and feeling chic at all times, even at the pool and the beach. Gone are the days where every single girl on the beach is wearing the same basic swimsuit – this is a huge opportunity to express yourself and make a splash! I have seen such a huge change in swimsuits over the years and that’s a good thing. Designers are finally paying attention to what’s flattering and on trend for the upcoming seasons when it comes to bathing suits. This season, there a couple different trends that I am loving so I am going to break down all the best swimsuits for spring so that you have an easy guide to looking glam while lounging around in the warm weather.
One Piece Heaven
When one pieces first came back into fashion, I couldn’t shake the image of me in my Limited Too bathing suit that I wore to all the pool parties in 2nd grade. Those were not my most glamorous days (picture missing front teeth and blunt bangs), so it was hard for me to jump on the bandwagon initially. Now that they’ve been back for a while, I am totally into them and I’ve discovered the key to making them look sexy and chic as opposed to awkward and frumpy. You’ll notice as you scroll through all of my picks that each of the swimsuits have something that makes them extra special. Whether it’s a cutout to show some extra skin, high leg to make your legs look 5 miles long, or low back to add some interest to the silhouette, none of these are just your boring one piece that you likely owned in the ’90’s. Thank God for that! When you’re looking for a one piece this season, make sure there is something that adds a touch of sass to the swimsuit. If you’re trying to keep it modest, look for one that has sheer mesh paneling – this adds a fun touch without showing additional skin. If you want a classic silhouette that won’t give funny tan lines, opt for a one piece with a subtle print or a unique texture.

Scallops, Mesh, and Frills – Oh My!
This is one of my favorite swimsuit trends because literally anyone can wear it. Incorporating a fun hem or mesh panel is really easy to do and will flatter any body type! If you’re going to choose a solid color swimsuit, add some fun to the look with a unique design element. This season, a huge trend in women’s fashion is an off the shoulder piece and swimwear is no exception! I am seriously eyeing an off the shoulder swimsuit this season because it’s super flattering (hello, sexy shoulders) and it makes a fashion statement in an unexpected way. I am also obsessed with scalloped edges in swimwear because it’s so flattering! You know when you love a swimsuit and then you put it on and feel like every seam is digging straight into your skin and making bulges in unwanted places? Scalloped edges won’t do that to you because the delicate hem won’t have a bulky seam to dig into your skin. Fashion and function? Yes please!

Prints Galore
I have to say, I am not usually a huge fan of prints. There are some printed pieces that have made their way into my wardrobe that I can’t get enough of (like this floral kimono that I’ve featured before) but I am not usually drawn to a bold print right off the bat. For some reason, though, when it comes to swimwear, prints just seem so meant to be. I don’t know if it’s because the print is on such a small area (itsy bitsy teeny weeny bikini, anyone?) but something just feels so right about a bold print in the hot weather up against tan skin and salty hair. Even if you’re usually not a huge print fan, give it a try for swimwear because it’s so much more wearable in this scenario. Trust me! One of my favorite prints this season is floral. I know, I know – florals for spring? Groundbreaking! But I really can’t get enough.
