As I am sure we all know, it can be so difficult to find products that work well for our particular skin type. This may sound totally absurd but I didn’t even know what my skin type was until college, which explains all of the products that didn’t even remotely work for me before then. I get a lot of questions about skincare and makeup suggestions but it’s hard for me to recommend products for oily skin since I don’t have personal experience with it. However my sister-in-law, Jamie, is a total pro so I knew she would be the perfect person to ask! She is a makeup and skincare fanatic and it’s safe to say she has nailed down the perfect routine. After much research and deliberation, Jamie has found the best products for oily skin and she was sweet enough to put together a list of her holy grail finds for your guys!
- Estee Lauder Doublewear Foundation – Has an amazing full coverage that lasts through the day. The only downside is that it may cake up when used on its own. Using it in combination with the Lancome foundation takes this cake-tendency away, according to Jamie.
- Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel – This is a gel moisturizer as opposed to a cream so it’s lightweight and doesn’t feel heavy throughout the day. It’s also a more affordable alternative to comparable moisturizers from high-end brands like Murad, Tatcha, etc.
- Korres Pomegranate Toner – This mattifies the skin without making it feel tight and doesn’t give that burning sensation that so many other toners do. If you’ve tried Korres products before and you were overwhelmed by the fragrance, don’t worry – this one has a much more subtle scent.
- Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray – The perfect setting spray for oily skin (and all skin type for that matter). This is visibly more effective on oily skin than the De-Slick Setting Spray from Urban Decay. Jamie recommends spraying it all over your face before you apply makeup and after all powders.
- Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder – Jamie says this is a “cult-classic for a reason.” It’s sheer and lightweight yet extremely effective. Also, it doesn’t alter the tone of your foundation, whether it’s cool or warm tone. Side note: I have personal experience with this powder and agree with everything Jamie is saying. Since I am more on the dry side, it can be drying on my under eyes but it’s perfect for normal to oily skin.
- Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Foundation – Jamie recommends this for a more natural, skin-like finish. She mixes this and the Estee Lauder foundation together to find her perfect shade and formula.
Thanks so much to Jamie for these product recommendations!
