With the Super Bowl coming up, everyone is snack obsessed. From french onion dip to buffalo wings to mozzarella sticks, the snacks are really the main attraction of the game, am I right? But with it being so close to the New Year and to the quickly approaching swimsuit season, sometimes it’s hard to find a snack that’s somewhat healthy. That’s why I am always excited to see guacamole at the Super Bowl parties I attend – such a relief! If it’s made with whole, fresh ingredients, guacamole is a good source of vitamins and healthy fats. Bonus: the avocado makes it really rich so you can’t eat too much of it even if you wanted to. But let’s forget about the boring nutrition facts for a minute – this guacamole is delicious!! Switching out the traditional lime for lemon makes it ultra fresh and light. This fresh guacamole recipe is perfect to bring to any Super Bowl party or make for your day-to-day life.
Fresh Guacamole Recipe:
Prep time: 15 Minutes
Ingredients:
-4 ripe Haas avocados
-1 lemon, juiced (approximately 3 tablespoons)
-8 dashes Tabasco sauce
-1/2 cup red onion, small diced
-1 large garlic clove, minced
-1 teaspoon sea salt
-1/2 cup tomatoes, small diced
Directions:
- Halve avocado and remove pit. Cut flesh into large chunks and then scoop out into a bowl.
- Immediately add lemon juice, salt, garlic, and Tabasco sauce. Stir.
- Add diced tomatoes and onions. Stir.
- Do not mash avocado – it will become slightly creamy from mixing. Do not over mix – you want chunks and texture to remain.
- Serve with tortilla chips or chopped, crunchy vegetables!
