Since we are officially in winter, I have been trying to lighten my color palette back up a bit. I am slowly making the move from black, burgundy, and olive to gray, blush, and cream. This helps me refresh my wardrobe so that I don’t get stuck in a rut and prepare for spring all at the same time. Like I have spoken about before in my Dressing for Fall in Hot Weather post, it is important to consider fabrics as well as colors when you’re dressing for a particular season. In this case, I wanted the look to have a winter vibe while sticking to a light, airy color palette. To do this, I added a chunky knit scarf with pom pom detailing and suede over the knee boots.
I don’t know what it is about pom poms but I just can’t get enough of them this season! Whether they’re on a beanie, scarf, or hanging off a purse – I love them. They add such a fun touch to otherwise boring items! Without the pom poms, this scarf would be lackluster and not add much to the look besides warmth. I always love any opportunity to add personality to an outfit and these are the perfect option. They add dimension, texture, and flair instantly without overpowering the entire look. Whenever I am featuring a pom pom, or any funky accessory, in my outfit, I like to keep the rest of the look simple. I stuck with a monochromatic color scheme and opted for a basic tee, cardigan, and plain blue jeans. This lets the pom pom scarf be the focus without making me look over-accessorized.
Do you have any pom poms in your closet this season?
