I hope you all had an amazing holiday season, surrounded by loved ones, happy music, and too much delicious food. I can’t believe Christmas is over – boo hoo! But now winter has officially begun – yay! Some of you that are reading are probably rolling your eyes as you look out the window at a foot of snow but the rest of us have to wait for winter for an official chill in the air! *insert second eye roll here* My favorite accessory for winter is a beanie, preferably sporting a pom pom on top. I love it because it keeps you warm, duh, but also adds some flair to your look. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on this trend – I got this pom pom beanie at Forever 21 for less than $10.
When it comes to beanies, I have found that to key is to find one that has a lot of slouch to it. This helps you to look less like a cone head and more like a model, which is safe to assume we would all prefer. Having a more relaxed fit gives your look an effortless touch that is cute from all angles. When a beanie is too fitted, it often gives the appearance of a bald head and no ears – not cute. Also, I prefer beanies that have a fold around the edge, just to add more interest and texture. This is totally preference so make sure you try a few different options before you commit!
It always surprises me that I am so obsessed with burgundy because I usually hate any color in the red family. No shade being thrown at the shade itself – it’s just that it tends to bring attention to my absurdly pale skin. For one reason or another, I just can’t get enough of all things burgundy, especially in fall and winter. The richness that the color brings to any look is just too dreamy for me to handle – I love it. Also, it doesn’t hurt that it pairs so well with my ultimate staple color, black. For this look, I wanted to call back the burgundy beanie so that it didn’t look out of place against the rest of my monochromatic look. I did this with this bordeaux crossbody bag from Target! This beauty is under $30 and looks like a total high-end option. The hardware is sturdy and the detail is gorgeous – I just can’t say enough good things about this bag. Bonus: you can fit a lot inside the purse without weighing down your shoulder to the point of exhaustion. It can easily fit all the essentials, wallet, phone, chapstick, keys, etc. without looking stuffed. Run to your nearest Target and get this bag!
