Living Proof Prime Style Extender

I originally planned on writing this post about all of my favorite hair products but when it really came down to it, I realized that all of them rested on this one product that I just can’t live without. I will eventually do a post about all of my hair care products, from shampoo to hairspray, but I knew I needed to dedicate something to this life-changer first. Before trying this particular product, I didn’t even know priming was a necessary step in hair care but it has changed my hair game for life. Since discovering this product more than two years ago, I have noticed such a difference in my hair and the way it styles. I stopped using it for a while amidst the chaos of moving and getting out of habits but I recently fell in love all over again. After seeing such a difference the second time around, I will never take this product out of my routine again! I am such a fan of the Living Proof brand in general, especially all of the styling products. And I am not just saying that because I have a total girl crush on Jennifer Aniston, part owner of the brand. I wasn’t amazed by their shampoos and conditioners but they are not playing around when it comes to the styling line, especially this product. My favorite hair product of all time is Living Proof Prime Style Extender.

Living Proof Prime Style Extender is described as a hair primer. It is unlike anything I have ever tried so I can’t give you a good comparison to any other product. Essentially, it holds your hair’s style longer, without being sticky or weighing your hair down in the slightest. It makes my hair frizz-proof, flat-proof, and dull-proof all at the same time. After applying, you don’t feel any product in your hair, which is one of my favorite things about it. Although my hair is quite thick and can tolerate a layer of product, I always prefer something that I won’t feel sitting in my hair throughout the day. All you do with this product is apply it to clean, damp hair from roots to ends after the shower. I like to apply mine before styling when my hair is towel dried or air-dried about 70% of the way. This gives the product a chance to absorb without being washed away from the excess water. The primer coats the hair in an ultra thin layer that smooths every strand and repels dirt and oil, keeping your hair clean longer (win!) and your style lasting as long as possible (double win!). This product is amazing as a pre-blowdry treatment because it smooths the hair out, making it much easier to manage, and it helps the hair dry much faster. This combined with your favorite heat protectant would be a dream team! When I use this before giving myself a formal blowout, it helps my hair stay voluminous, shiny, and styled for up to 3-4 days without touch-ups. I also love using Living Proof Prime Style Extender before I curl my hair. Since I am going to be using the heat of the curling iron, I like to skip blow drying whenever possible. Just like before, I apply Living Proof Prime Style Extender when my hair is about 70% dry and let it finish air drying. Once my hair is completely dry, I curl as I normally would. I notice that my curls are much shinier and healthier when I prep with this product and I know I need less hairspray because of the staying power this product lends.

I seriously don’t know how this product does it but I noticed an immediate difference from the very first time I used it, via a Sephora sample, and have been hooked ever since. Trust me – do yourself a favor and try this product just once and I guarantee you will be sold.
