In February, my family threw me the most stunning bridal shower I could have ever imagined. It’s something I have dreamed of my whole life – as long as I’ve thought about my wedding day, I have pictured all the events that go along with it. It’s about more than just one big day, in a white dress, with a groom that I love – it was the whole idea of being a bride. To me, being a bride means getting to have an excuse to be surrounded by love and joy from all of your favorite people. If you ask me, that sounds pretty great. And for the last year or so (how has it already been so long?!), being a bride has been exactly that. I’ve loved every single minute of it!
The bridal shower was hosted by my mom, who makes Martha Stewart look like an absolute rookie. We have had gorgeous parties at our house for as long as I can remember – she is quite frankly the queen of entertaining and has the best taste in the world. It also doesn’t hurt that she’s the most thoughtful, gracious mom so she never leaves one detail untouched. She put together my Bridal Brunch for me and 50 of my favorite people at my childhood home, where I always dreamed of having it. We worked together on the design (because she knows I love this kind of thing, too) and ultimately chose a rose gold color palette. It’s ultra girly, super on-trend, and so me. The first thing we picked was the invitations from Minted! The design embodied everything we had in mind for the shower – feminine, luxurious, and a little playful. Once those were sent out, my sister (and MOH) stepped in and did all things crafty. She does the most beautiful modern calligraphy, it’s mesmerizing and comes in quite handy for things like this! Everyone needs a sister that crafts, trust me! She also spray painted these paper mache letters that acted as a focal point for the shower. One of my favorite details!
To make my mom’s life a bit easier and take something off her plate, we brought in caterers! We chose Conscious Bite Catering and they were fantastic! The food was delicious, the staff was professional, and it was much more affordable than we thought it would be. Definitely worth it to take all of the work out of buying, prepping, and cooking the food. Highly recommend them if you’re in the South Florida area. Conscious Bite Catering did a full waffle bar for us, complete with fried chicken, chocolate chips, syrup and all the fix-in’s you could imagine. We also had eggs, fruit salad, and every other breakfast treat you can think of. My personal favorite part of the breakfast buffet? This letter board we made that said “I, Lauren, take you, Andrew to be my waffley wedded husband.” Pretty punny, if you ask me. Oh, and of course we had a separate buffet filled with nothing but Krispy Kreme donuts because….do I even need to explain?
I’m not huge on games at bridal showers – they can get so repetitive and boring so we kept it super simple for our guests’ sake! On everyone’s plate, we had one of these MadLib-style cards for the guests to fill out. It was so fun to read what all the girls wrote after the shower! These cards are a keepsake that I will treasure forever. So cute! Side note: if you do this at your shower, make sure you tell everyone to write their names on their card! For the second game, my sister made the most beautiful Jeopardy board ever for trivia questions about me, about Andrew, and about us as a couple. I was shocked at how well they knew us, both together and apart.
For the favors, we wanted to give something to the guests that they could actually use. I’d rather give nothing at all than give a useless tube of bubbles or a cheap pair of sunglasses with my name on them. Those kinds of things always end up being a waste of money, in my opinion! But of course we didn’t want to give our guests nothing at all! We opted for cute clear boxes, filled with the chicest dessert there is – macaroons! Who doesn’t love a little treat to take home for a mini afternoon snack?! My sister (and her perfectionist boyfriend, Matt) made these sweet rose gold labels for each box! I love how they tied into the theme while still being super practical.
Overall, it was the best bridal shower I have ever been to (no, I’m not biased at all) and I’m so lucky that it was mine. Literally everyone in the family (and my mom’s sweet friend, Jeannine!) had a hand in creating this party. It wouldn’t have happened without them. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that helped make every detail perfection.
