Buying skincare products is a huge commitment – sometimes they last an entire year! There are some products that we replace ASAP but everyone has those products that they use just so that they can finish the bottle and not feel bad about wasting money. Sometimes it’s just a one and done experience!
Hearing what people would repurchase is always fun because it goes way deeper than “did you like it?” There are plenty of products that I have liked but wouldn’t repurchase for one reason or another. I am going to make this into a series on my blog because I am constantly trying new products and since I love to hear about this, I figured all of you probably do, too! Today I will be talking about all things skincare – what I liked and didn’t like and if it passes the final test of getting repurchased! Keep in mind is that this all comes down to personal preference – just because I didn’t repurchase something, doesn’t mean it can’t turn into one of your favorite products.
When this was first released, I was so excited to try it because it was unlike anything I had ever used before. Essentially, it’s an exfoliating gel that is meant to lift away a layer of dirt, dead skin cells, and impurities from the face to reveal brightened, radiant skin. It’s a really interesting product because you use it on completely dry skin. As you exfoliate, you will feel tiny balls of dead skin and dry patches be removed. So satisfying! The reason this product didn’t make the repurchasing cut for me is because of the way it rinses off. No matter how long I exfoliate, I am always left with micro balls of dead skin after rinsing! The reason I don’t use the product again on that area is because it would be too harsh. Also, the product needs to be used on bone dry skin, otherwise the gel attaches itself to the skin and isn’t able to be massaged in circular motions. This product might be better for someone that has a more oily skin type because it would give something to lubricate the gel. I definitely won’t repurchase this one!
Shiseido Ibuki Gentle Cleanser
I got this cleanser quite a while ago and I have finally reached the end of the bottle. I say finally because it took so long, not because I wanted it to be over. This a creamy cleanser that lathers into a rich foam to cleanse the skin of excess sebum and impurities without stripping the moisture. I love this cleanser so much that I don’t think I will ever switch to another one. First of all, you literally need a pea size of this product so it lasts and lasts, making it super cost effective. Second of all, it does exactly what it is meant to do! Because of the creamy texture, it’s almost as if you’re moisturizing and cleansing at the same time. I will definitely be repurchasing this ASAP!
There is not anything drastic about this product that I hate, it’s just okay to me. This cleanser is supposed to clean the skin without stripping the skin of essential moisture, which I love! But after using it, I don’t find that it truly does that! I always prefer a gentle cleanser that doesn’t make my face squeaky clean because that usually means me being left with dry skin. But this one is so gentle that it doesn’t leave my skin feeling any cleaner than it was before I washed it! I won’t repurchase this one because it didn’t WOW me.
Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
I discovered this product on a total whim – I think it was a beauty insider reward from Sephora or something of that nature. This is a gel-cream moisturizer that penetrates the skin on a deep level and leaves it hydrated for up to 24 hours. I recently ran out of this moisturizer and I will be running to the store to repurchase it. I love the way that it hydrates the skin without making it oily or greasy in any way. This is such a great daytime moisturizer because of the lightweight texture and the fact that it sets into the skin quickly! But it also makes a great nighttime moisturizer because of what a deep level it hydrates on. I can’t say enough good things about this product.
What products have you finished lately? Will you be repurchasing them or not?
