Makeup brushes are something that are so underrated in terms of importance to your finished makeup look. You can use all the best products in the world but if you’re not using the proper brushes, you’re going to end up with subpar results. Similarly, if you’re using average beauty products with good quality brushes, you are going to end up with a much better finished product. I think the reason that so many people skimp when it comes to brush collection is that they are reluctant to make the initial investment. It is so hard to find inexpensive makeup brushes that are high quality without the high price tag! That is why I am so obsessed with Morphe Brushes.
The company offers a lot of different lines of brushes, from basic brushes to their more luxurious elite collection. Every single brush I have ever ordered from there has been incredible quality, even after a ton of abuse and many washes. Morphe offers both natural hair and synthetic brushes, depending on your needs. As a general rule of thumb, I like to use my natural hair brushes for powder application and my synthetic brushes for cream or liquids! Now, here comes the best part: the price point. Every brush in their entire collection is under $30. Some of them are even priced as low as $2. I really don’t know how they do it! Also, because the company is so big within the beauty community, they offer an affiliate code with many bloggers and YouTubers that will give you an additional 10% off – just in case they weren’t already inexpensive enough. I have used code “JACATTACK” (in all capital letters) to receive my discount, courtesy of beauty guru, Jaclyn Hill.
I truly do love all of my Morphe brushes but I wanted to make a list of all my ultimate favorites, plus any additional ones that I think you need as part of your collection.
Face:
M527 Deluxe Pointed Powder – Used for a soft application of bronzer or a very subtle contour. The slightly pointed tip allows for a precise application while the fluffy bristles keeps the appearance of powder and pigmentation diffused. Price: $15.99
M439 Deluxe Buffer – Used for buffing creams and liquids, such as foundation, onto the entire face. The large surface area allows for a quick, flawless application. Price: $13.99
M438 Pointed Contour – Used to dust off translucent powder from under the eyes. Its pointed tip allows to get into very small areas. Price: $9.99
M501 Pro Pointed Blender – Used to apply highlighter powder to the cheekbones and bridge of the nose. The fluffy bristles allows for an even, diffused highlight while still applying an appropriate amount of product. This is the key to a popping highlight, if that’s the look you’re going for. Price: $7.99
M335 Chubby Buffer – Used to apply and blend cream products, such as concealer or cream contour. This is perfect for precise application of concealer. Price: $6.99
E13 Oval Shadow Fluff – Used for powder nose contouring. This is technically an eye brush but my favorite way to use it is to apply a cool-toned brown shadow along the bridge of my nose in order to make it appear thinner. The flat nature of the brush allows for straight lines while the tip is perfect for blending. Price: $7.99
E4 Angled Contour – Used for soft blush application. Fits perfectly into the hollows of the face and blends effortlessly. This brush would also be perfect for a super subtle contour! Price: $13.99
Eyes:
E27 Pro Round Blender – Used for buffing in color and blending away any harsh lines. The perfect brush for applying a transition shade onto the eye and blending as you go while doing your eyeshadow. Price: $6.99
M505 Tapered Blender – Used for adding color to the crease and achieving a soft, blended look. The tapered end allows for a precise application. Perfect brush for a smokey eye! Price: $5.99
M433 Pro Firm Blending Fluff – Used for applying and blending any shade. This brush is an absolute must! It is even handy to own multiples of this particular one (two or three would be more than enough)! The best brush for applying different colors into the crease and blending. An exact dupe for the MAC 217 from MAC cosmetics, which is $20 more expensive. Price: $5.99
M507 Pointed Mini Blender – Used for ultra precise color application of eyeshadows. This is my favorite for applying a very dark color in an eye look. It is extremely small so it allows you to be super precise but the bristles are loosely packed which allows for a soft color application. Price: $5.99
M508 Smudger – Used to smudge and buff out colors on the lower lash line. The stiff, short bristles allow you to pack on color and create a very neat, precise application. Essential for completing your smokey eye! Price: $3.99
E36 Detail Crease – Used for precise application, either in the outer V of the eye or on the lower lash line. Also perfect for highlighting the inner corner of the eye. The bristles are so soft that you can blend on your lower lash line without scratching the delicate skin. At the same time, the bristles are packed tightly enough to give the perfect consistency for layering on color. This is the only pencil brush you’ll ever need! Price: $4.99
Definitely do yourself a favor and get these brushes for yourself or someone you love. Hello, best stocking stuffer ever! You can purchase them in sets or individually so that you may customize them to your likes and needs. If you start out with the brushes I mentioned above, you will have more than enough to look like a million bucks every day without having the spend that much!
Have you tried Morphe brushes yet? If not, what are you waiting for!?
